As usual, my level of commitment to keeping up with this blog has slipped dramatically.

Since my last post, Taly spent January 13 through May 25 in Australia, and I was with her there from February 15 through March 14.

Though there is much to like about Byron Bay, it is not home, and the trip there takes so much out of me, that I am reluctant to make the trip again.

Though I would prefer to share the time with her, in Taly’s absence, I manage to socialize a bit, and meet new and interesting people.  At the monthly expat gathering organized by David and Kathleen Chitester, I am constantly engaged and meet fascinating people.

At the gathering on April 29, I met Mike Cooper and Laura de la Torre, a very interesting couple who are likely 20 years (and more) younger than I.  We arranged to meet for lunch a couple of weeks ago, and over dinner, discovered that we all share a love of good movies.  We agreed to meet later that evening at Cine Bacco, a small local art cinema theater.

I arrived early, and while waiting for Mike and Laura to arrive, I met an interesting pair of guys, Zade and Ali.  They joined us for the movie, and drinks afterwards.  We have socialized on a number of occasions subsequently and all of us are now regulars at the monthly gathering of expats.

Taly arrived home at 1 AM on Monday morning, and, though suffering from jet lag, managed to have a great time at last night’s monthly gathering of expats at Restaurante Bastardo.  The gathering was more highly attended than expected, with about forty people in attendance.  Here are some pics of the get together
