1777 Larimer St

In late 1994, I bought this downtown condo for $99,000 when Camille and I split up.

On the ninth floor of a high-rise building at 17th and Larimer Streets in downtown Denver, it had enough space for a single guy, a nice layout, and a decent view of the mountains.

Of course, I couldn’t leave well enough alone and found many upgrades I wanted to incorporate into the apartment:

  • There was a “sun room” with a south-west facing view, separated from the main living space by sliding glass doors.  I removed that glass wall and turned the former sun room into a dining room.
  • I put a built-in desk and shelving at one end of the dining room and behind the fireplace, and replaced a wall between the dining room and the main bedroom with French doors.
  • Finally, the kitchen received brand new cabinets and countertop, and a pass through from the kitchen to the living area received a beautiful curved countertop.
  • Topping all of this off was some lovely engineered hardwood flooring to replace the old, horrible, carpeting.

The overall effect was stunning, so much so that I finally sold the unit in May 2001 for $269,000.
